Please venture by our newest display in the Local History Department at the Huntley Area Public Library titled, “Road Trip from Huntley.” You’ll catch a glimpse of what a road trip might have been like featuring pictures and memorabilia from 1910 to 1940.
Come and analyze an exact model of a 1929 chassis and engine featuring moving parts. The brake system has moving parts; and the model radiator holds water. Or you can peruse the four Model-T cast iron cars; two circa 1900-1910 and two from the 1940s.
Helping our minds refabricate what it was like back in the day, there are photos of early Huntley residents showing off their new automobiles and driving attire. Here is a picture of Ms. Mabel Swanson. To help complete the scene you will get to see a variety of maps and driving guides dating to the early travel days of the 1930s.
Many of the items in the case are on loan from the Kreutzer family collection. We are so grateful for their assistance in being able to tangibly bring a part of Huntley area history to modern day.
